I hate hard things.
But life is full of hard things, and it is the hard things that prove that God really can make the impossible possible.
If everything was easy, would you know you need God?
I'm not sure I would. When things are going well for me, it is easy for me to forget that the only way I got to "well" was through God's active involvement in my life. So I go right on back to doing things on my own... which leads to "not well" rather quickly.
Sometimes I think that I will forever be blessed with hard things because I am so insistent that I can do it on my own and God will always have to remind me that I can't.
My passage for this round is from Acts, and it is a reminder to me that God doesn't need me, but I will forever need Him.
Acts 17:24-28 (NIV)
24"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. 25And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. 26From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. 27God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 28'For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'
Offspring... interesting word, isn't it? =) Hmm... I'll ruminate on the etymology some other time... and perhaps spare you.
Anyway, for those who have been praying for my pastor - he's doing well and may be able to go home sooner than expected. Thanks for your prayers.
